Monarh began in 2013 in a small workshop, with a cutting table, a sewing machine, and plenty of ideas. At first, I had no written plan or strategy. I started simply — I wanted to create clothes that felt like me and the women around me. Clothes with personality, as well as shape.

From an idea to a brand

I made the first pieces for friends. They were dresses sewn at night, driven by a desire to create something unique and beautifully made that looked exactly as I felt it should. Then came the recommendations: independent shows, magazine features, and people who began to recognize the Monarh style without seeing the label.

That is how the brand grew: naturally, step by step. With no gimmicks. With attention to detail, respect for the cut, and a commitment to impeccable workmanship. I have always chosen quality over quantity and clarity over noise.

Fashion for women who know who they are

Today, Monarh is about women who know what they want and feel no need to prove anything. Women who feel at ease in beautifully made clothes — pieces guided by aesthetics rather than trends.

I do not follow trends. I listen to them, filter them, and sometimes rewrite them.

Made in Romania

All Monarh pieces are made entirely in Romania, on our own premises. Our design workshop is where designs take shape, fabrics are tested, and the details of each cut are defined.

We work only with carefully selected fabrics — natural silk, taffeta, tulle, velvet, Italian suiting fabrics, and French brocade — complemented by premium trims and details handcrafted in our workshop.

I am Larisa Lupoiu, the founder and creative voice behind Monarh. I started this brand to create clothes that express clarity, balance, and identity, rather than following predefined rules. I studied fashion design and business, but learned most by building things step by step — both in fashion and in the other creative fields I have explored over the past 20 years.

Every Monarh collection bears my signature.

I enjoy working with clean shapes, clear proportions, and subtle messages. I am always looking for a balance between concept and execution, emotion and construction. To me, clothes are more than objects. They are visual expressions of a mood and a way of being.

I believe a designer’s role is to observe rather than dictate. To listen to the woman who wears their clothes and tell her story through line, texture, and attitude.

Over time, Monarh has established a public presence through features in the fashion press, television programs celebrating Romanian creativity, and appearances on leading local and international runways.
